This week I was very lucky this week to be up in Cairns, North Queensland, for a couple of days with work and on the second day we had about an hour free time before our flights home. So what else to do when in Cairns other than to visit The Australian Armour and Artillery Museum, which incidentally has the largest collection of armoured vehicles and artillery in the Southern Hemisphere….nice. The collection is absolutely massive and from what I have heard the majority, if not all, the tanks and vehicles are in working order.
Each year they have a field day and drive around the paddock at the rear of the museum and show of the collection. Their latest addition is one of only two original working German Panzer versus ‘Panther’ in the world and they also have the replica Panzer VI ‘Tiger’ from the movie Fury.
If you ever have the chance to visit Cairns North Queensland and you don’t mind a tank or two then it is well worth the visit.

What a brilliant museum/collection. I bet you’d wished that you had more than a couple of hours?
Regards, James
Ah! James an extra hour would have been brilliant indeed……just to much for the eye to take in
