Today’s set-up took us back to Sicily in 1943 and to the Battle for Primosole Bridge, German Fallschirmjager vs British Airborne. It was roughly based on the fantastic battle map from the excellent Valhalla Games Campaign Supplement #1. We played our game using Chain of Command Rules and allowed each side to choose an additional 12 pts of support. The Fallschirmjager called forward a sniper team, an MMG team, and a Panzer lll for support. The British forces called up another PIAT, MMG, and M4 Sherman.

Utilising standard scenario 1 ‘The Patrol’ the British commenced the patrol phase and initiated the first roll of the Command Dice. From that point on, the game played well with both the German and British Paras picking unsupported sections. Section/squad commanders were hit on both sides and support assets were forced to withdraw or were destroyed.

However, in the end, it was the combined firepower of the M4 Sherman and a couple of well-aimed shots from a PIAT Team that finally won the day for the British paras.

Well done Dave for the great victory and thanks to Terry for assisting the command of the Germans lads. The figures are all from my collection. Figures are all 28mm and a Perry Miniatures Germans and Empress Miniature British paras.
