The character of Tom Doniphone featured in the film Who Shot Liberty Valance. Played by John Wayne this was one of Wayne’s best acting rolls and the film if highly recommended.
Although a fairly standard story of good and bad this as seen in many westerns this film is a lot more than that and is actually about good solid values and honour. A man who does the right thing and takes the secret to his grave even though he looses everything by doing so. The clever thing is that Wayne’s character is actually played as an arrogant bully himself who the viewer really does not come to admire and respect until the end of the film.
A classic John Ford film with multi levels of story line and meaning that is worth a couple of hours of any ones life to see.
John Wayne was very precious about his persona and was in real life a big man standing between 6’2″ and 6’4″ depending on what you read. To make this persona look even more impressive he carried reduced size weapons such as the Colt revolver and the ladies Winchester carbine.
The figures is casted in pewter and is supplied unpainted.
