Last Sunday we had another great day of gaming, playing Chain of Command. On one side Dave and Jeff played the German Panzergrenadier platoon with a MMG Team and Panzer IV in support. On the other side, Tim commanded a British Airborne platoon with an MMG Team and a 6dr AT gun Team in support. Our scenario was scenario six, ‘Attack on an Objective, which was the crossroads located in the village and the British objective as they were on the attack.

Over the first few phases, the game was going very well for Tim and his Airborne lads. The British managed to wound a German senior and junior leader, quickly dropping the German Force Morale down to six.

With his blood up, Tim quickly followed up this win by charging a section into a fairly well-defended courtyard and subsequently lost five men and was forced back. In the same action he lost a team (Bren Team) and his junior leader, which forced Tim to take three Force Morale checks, one for a team wiped out, one for a team broken and one for a leader killed.

The Germans followed up the close combat victory by rolling double sixes and gaining a full Chain of Command dice. Jeff and Dave subsequently ended the turn, which caused the broken British Team to run off the table, with their junior leader in tow. Poor Tim had to roll for another two force morales, which in turn dropped him down to a four on the morale table.

In the end, Tim’s lads could not recover, especially after their 6pdr and crew were wiped out by the Panzer IV. Thanks again to Tim, Dave, and Jeff for a great day of gaming.

The terrain and figures are from my collection. The figures on both sides are Empress Miniatures.
