These are just a few images from the fantastic Chain of Command game Dave and I played the other weekend. Again, the game was set in the Italian theatre, maybe just north of Anzio in May 1944. This time Dave commanded a platoon of British infantry, supported by two Shermans and a Staghound. I commanded a German Infantry platoon, not a Panzer Grenadiers platoon so only the one MG42……..what was I thinking? The German infantry was supported by a Stug, a Pak 38, and an HMG Team.

Initially, the Germans managed to hold their ground well, utilising the hardcover of the buildings and dominating the ground with well-positioned units with excellent arcs of fire……however, as in most of our games it comes down to the will of the dice, and the that will of the dice was not with me today.

I must have tried to hit the British armour several times, but my dice Gods were not looking over me today and I failed to hit the mark…….. Dave on the other hand played a very good game and after destroying my Stug, the game was pretty much over for the Germans.

Well done Dave it was a great victory and loads of fun. All the buildings and vineyards were scratch-built by the very talented Phil from Tinned Fruit Buildings. The figures and vehicles are from my collection and have been painted by Leroy Simpson. The British armour was painted by the talented Joshua Atkinson of Skeleton Paints.
