Last weekend our club played several games of our first Chain of Command mini-campaign using the table setup and support points from the ‘Taking the Gembloux Gap’ Pint Sized campaign. However, we did not have a French Army, so we utilised the very nice platoon of BEF lads (painted by Leroy Simpson). Terry Moran and Tim Jolly commanded the BEF, and myself, David Lowe, and Scott Robertson had our turns commanding the German forces.

All four of the games ended in a victory for the German forces who caused considerable losses to the BEF, including one Platoon Commander killed and three NCOs killed. The losses were so high after the first two games, that Tim replaced them with a new platoon in the 3rd game.

Fortunately for the Germans, losses were kept to a minimum, only one of our NCOs was knocked out. The winning team of the games today was the 7.5cm Infantry Gun team, though we did have some fortunate dice rolls.

Awards were awarded to both sides. The Platoon Sergeant of the 1st Platoon received a MID for his gallant efforts in supporting the demolition team to blow the first culvert and almost the 2nd culvert….well done that man. For the German troops, their Feldwebel earned the Iron Cross 1st class and one of the Squad Leaders won an Iron Cross 2nd Class.

All three games played exceptionally well, but the dice roll favoured the German Commanders. Thanks again to Tim, Terry, and Dave for an enjoyable day of gaming. Looking forward to next week when we will hopefully complete the campaign.
