Last weekend (18/19 Nov 2006), Andrew Parr invited me, for a weekend game at Adam Burkes’ house. Andrew and Adam are involved in conducting a Napoleonic Peninsular Campaign and this was their first battle. The game was conducted in the basement of Adams house, where he has been very busily, over the last seven months, constructing some fantastic terrain.
The rules were ‘General de Brigade’, however with slightly different basing then suggested in the rules. The game was played over a six-hour period and proved to be most enjoyable, with Adam and I fighting against Andrew (who is a seasoned campaigner). For the first four hours the game flowed back and forth, but in the end my troops gave way and left Adams right flank exposed to Andrews’s troops (sorry Adam). Under pressure from frontal and flank attacks Adam was finally forced to withdraw from the field with heavy loses.
